Say No To Acidity With A Combination Of Esomeprazole & Itopride Hydrochloride

My Indian Pharmacy

Esomeprazole & Itopride Hydrochloride is a combination medicine used to treat acidity, gastro-oesophageal reflux disease (GERD), stomach ulcers (peptic ulcers, gastric ulcers due to H pylori), heartburn symptoms and Zollinger Ellison syndrome. When stomach acid leaks back into the oesophagus regularly, a condition known as gastroesophageal reflux disease develops (oesophagus). Peptic ulcers are open sores on the stomach or intestine lining. H pylori is a type of bacteria that causes gastric ulcers by irritating and weakening the stomach’s protective mucous layer.

The drug combination Esomeprazole & Itopride Hydrochloride consists of two individual medications Esomeprazole and Itopride. The proton pump inhibitor (PPI) esomeprazole functions by inhibiting the gastric proton pump, the enzyme responsible for the production of stomach acid. Itopride is a gastroprokinetic agent that increases gastric emptying time, thereby improving the movement/motility of the food pipe, stomach and intestine. As a pair, ESOMEPRAZOLE and ITOPRIDE work to reduce the overproduction of stomach acid, relieving the pain and discomfort associated with an ulcer.

Esomeprazole & Itopride Hydrochloride should be taken 30-60 minutes before eating. Do not chew or crush Esomeprazole & Itopride Hydrochloride; rather, swallow it with a full glass of water. Depending on your medical condition, you are advised to take Esomeprazole & Itopride Hydrochloride for as long as your doctor has prescribed it. Common adverse reactions include headache, flatulence, stomach pain, constipation, and diarrhoea. Most of these unwanted effects will go away without any intervention and in due time. However, if any of these symptoms persist, you should consult your doctor.

Esomeprazole & Itopride Hydrochloride has been linked to an increased risk of bone fractures, low magnesium levels, and a possible decrease in vitamin B12 absorption when used for an extended period. If a woman is pregnant or breastfeeding, she should see a doctor. If you take Esomeprazole & Itopride Hydrochloride and are dizzy, don’t get behind the wheel. Esomeprazole & Itopride Hydrochloride should not be given to children as safety has not been established. Since alcohol can increase stomach acid production and drowsiness, it’s best to avoid drinking on Esomeprazole & Itopride Hydrochloride. It’s essential to keep your doctor updated on your medication use and health status so that you can rule out adverse reactions.
